Independent film awards crown Gareth Edwards Best Director for Monsters- low-budget sci-fi

The British film industry turned out in force for The 13th Moët British Independent Film Awards earlier this month.

The winners were announced at a glittering ceremony hosted by James Nesbitt.

Best British Independent Film was won by The King’s Speech with Gareth Edwards picking up Best Director for Monsters, Carey Mulligan Best Actress for Never Let Me Go and Colin Firth Best Actor for The King’s Speech.
